Steam Deck was originally intended to be launched last year, but was delayed because Valve did not think they would have time to refine all aspects of the experience and be able to produce enough during the current pandemic.

There is no concrete date for the premiere yet, but the unit will be released next month, and Valve is still sticking to it with just over two weeks left. They have now given us a small update of their work via the website, and write:

“Happy New Year! The team is back from the holiday and firing on all cylinders – we’ve got a few updates for you today. First and foremost, we’re on track to ship Steam Deck on time. Global pandemic, supply issues, and shipping issues notwithstanding, it looks like we’ll be able to start getting these out the door by the end of February.”
