With Pokémon Scarlet/Violet, Game Freak and Nintendo tried to innovate, and judging by the sales, it has paid off. But above all, technical difficulties have made the latest launch in the series controversial, to say the least.

This has resulted in more negative reviews from media outlets that are not at all happy with the game’s technical state, and now it has received a questionable award. It now sits at an overall Metacritic rating of 72, making it the lowest-rated main game in the Pokémon series of all time.

It thus “beats” Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, which stands at 73, but is far from the best result of the series, which comes in the form of Pokémon X/Y at 87 and 88, respectively.
