Belkin Stage PowerGrip Review – More Than a Grip
The Belkin Stage PowerGrip is one of those accessories that sounds a bit gimmicky at first glance. A MagSafe camera grip combined with a power bank isn’t exactly a must-have on paper, but after spending some time with it, I found it to be a surprisingly practical addition to my iPhone setup.
Design and Build
The design is clearly inspired by traditional cameras, and that’s a good thing. The grip feels solid and comfortable in hand, making it much easier to hold the phone securely, especially when taking photos one-handed. It adds some bulk, sure, but it’s a trade-off that actually makes sense here. The materials feel premium enough, and the magnetic attachment is strong and reliable.
What I appreciated most is how natural it feels to use. It genuinely changes how you interact with the iPhone camera, making it feel closer to a compact camera rather than just a phone.
Functionality
The built-in shutter button is the standout feature. It connects via Bluetooth and works consistently, giving a more tactile and responsive way to take photos. It’s a small thing, but it makes a noticeable difference, especially for anyone who takes a lot of pictures.
The MagSafe integration works well overall. It snaps into place easily and stays put during normal use, although like most magnetic accessories, it’s not something I’d fully trust in more extreme situations without being mindful.

Battery Performance
This is where the PowerGrip goes beyond being just a camera accessory. The built-in battery provides a useful top-up for the iPhone, which is especially handy when you’re out shooting photos or videos for extended periods.
It’s not going to replace a dedicated high-capacity power bank, but that’s not really the point. It’s more about convenience, and in that sense, it delivers. Having extra battery without carrying a separate device is a big plus.
Everyday Use
In daily use, it’s a bit of a mixed bag. It’s great when you’re actively taking photos or traveling, but less ideal as something you keep attached all the time. The added size makes the phone less pocket-friendly, and it’s not something I’d leave on permanently.
That said, it’s easy enough to snap on and off, which makes it more of a situational accessory rather than an everyday essential.
Price and Availability
The official retail price is around $80, which is roughly 850–900 SEK in Sweden. That puts it in a somewhat premium accessory category, especially considering it’s not a necessity for most users.
Verdict
The Belkin Stage PowerGrip is a niche product, but it’s a well-executed one. It genuinely improves the photography experience on an iPhone while adding the bonus of extra battery life.
It’s not for everyone, and the added bulk means it won’t live on your phone full-time. But if you take a lot of photos or just like the idea of a more camera-like experience, it’s an accessory that actually makes sense and delivers on its promise.
