Now it’s officially here. It has long been rumored that Sonos worked on a portable speaker, that would be a regular Bluetooth speaker, but what’s “Sonos” with it?

Roam runs wifi and Bluetooth at the same time and in this way you don’t have to switch between the modes (as you need to do on the Sonos Move – which can only run either wifi or Bluetooth).

Dimensions and features
The Sonos Roam is small, the dimensions are 168x62x60 mm and the weight is only 430 grams. It’s IP67 rated, which means that it can be in water at a depth of one meter for 30 minutes. It’s ok to take it into the shower then (although maybe not recommended).

Charging
It’s possible to charge the Roam via a cord if you want (USB-C). But you can also buy a small charging tablet that uses Qi to charge the speaker wirelessly. You place the speaker on the plate which adjusts with magnets and then you just have to pull the speaker if you want to use it elsewhere.
