Microsoft and Japanese Weekly Famitsu jointly point out that Xbox is now 20 years old in Japan. Although the platform has had a difficult time over there, to say the least, some hardware has actually been sold where the Xbox 360 in particular stands out.

2.35 million Xbox consoles have been sold so far (yes, in total), of which the distribution looks like this, where we can see that the Xbox Series S / X sailed past its predecessor’s lifetime sales just over a year after it was launched:

  1. Xbox 360 – 1 616 218
  2. Xbox – 472 992
  3. Xbox Series S/X – 142 042
  4. Xbox One – 114 831

The article also reveals that Dead or Alive 3 for the original Xbox is the title that sold the most copies – as many as 46 percent of the owners of the original Xbox owned that game. Here are the top five, which are quite different from Europe:

  1. Dead or Alive 3 (Xbox) – 271 149
  2. Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope (Xbox 360) – 208 521
  3. Tales of Vesperia (Xbox 360) – 204 305
  4. Blue Dragon (Xbox 360) – 203 740
  5. The Last Remnant (Xbox 360) – 154 493
