Rumors that new hardware from Nintendo is on the way have been spreading for a while. But there doesn’t seem to be any immediate need for this, as the original Switch is still selling incredibly well.

An additional 3.25 million Switch consoles were sold in the fiscal period ending September 30, Nintendo revealed in its latest report, bringing the total to 114.33 million consoles now sold. However, the overall trend is still downward, which is perhaps not surprising for hardware that debuted in 2017. Overall console sales are down 19.2% compared to the same period last year.

However, Nintendo says that this is due to a shortage of components and that therefore supply and not demand is the problem.
