Just over three months after the launch of Pokémon Diamond & Pearl and less than a month after the launch of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Nintendo and developer Gamefreak are turning the spotlight on the next part of the series.

And at yesterday’s Pokémon Presents, the new addition to the regular series – with a classic two-part launch – was shown up. Generation 9 will be called Scarlet and Violet and will take place on an island. It seems to draw inspiration from both previous regular parts and from Legends: Arceus with its more open environments. Launch date is set to “late 2022”.
