As you know, Nintendo is back on top again with the Nintendo Switch, which month after month has been the world’s best-selling console. Switch is, as you may know, not an ordinary console though, but also a portable device, and this has caused the faithful servant Nintendo 3DS to end up in the shadows. The device, which has far from become a flop on the same terms as the Wii U (which sold 13.6 million units), has still not had the same success as its predecessor, and it sold so poorly in the beginning that the price was dumped. A total of 76 million units have been sold, which is less than, for example, the PSP, which many considered a failure.

And especially much more than that, the Nintendo 3DS will never sell either. Nintendo UK is now announcing:

“Please note: The manufacturing of the Nintendo 3DS family of systems has ended.”
