Google announces Pixel 11 series and Pixel Watch 5

Google has announced four new smartphones in its flagship lineup — the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold — alongside the Pixel Watch 5 smartwatch.

The new handset range features updated hardware designs with edge-to-edge glass across the camera bar, alongside deeper integration with Google's Gemini Nano AI platform.

Tensor G6 and Gemini integration

At the heart of the Pixel 11 lineup is Google's new Tensor G6 processor. Google claims the chip provides up to 20 per cent better energy efficiency, 25 per cent faster web browsing, and 15 per cent faster application loading times.

Gemini Nano can now be integrated into more than 40 applications. It includes a voice feature named Rambler, designed to collect, structure, summarise, and transcribe calls, notes, and voice memos.

Pixel 11 Pro models and Fold

The Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL feature Super Actua displays reaching up to 3,600 nits peak brightness and twice the scratch resistance of previous models. Exclusive to the Pro handsets is HiLight, an LED light integrated into the rear camera bar that offers visual colour signals for priority contacts and pulses during Gemini interactions.

The press materials state that the redesigned telephoto camera provides up to 120x zoom and 8K Video Boost. The Pixel 11 Pro XL supports fast charging capable of restoring up to 15 hours of battery life in 15 minutes. Purchases of a Pro handset include six months of Google AI Pro.

The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is described as Google's thinnest and most durable foldable phone to date, measuring approximately 1 mm thinner and nearly 10 per cent lighter than its predecessor. It features 16 GB of RAM, split-screen multitasking support, and a new Bubbles feature that lets users minimise apps into floating icons on the home screen.

Pixel Watch 5 features

The Pixel Watch 5 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 processor, which Google says makes the smartwatch 20 per cent faster, with an estimated battery life of 30 to 40 hours.

The wearable features new sensors to track health indicators such as blood pressure trends and insulin resistance, alongside sleep features including Sleep Breathing Quality and Smart Wake Alarms. It can be operated hands-free using Raise to Talk and hand gestures.

Pre-orders for the Pixel 11 range and Pixel Watch 5 open today, with general retail availability beginning on 20 August.
