Nothing’s CMF Launches Its First Bluetooth Speakers — Meet Speaker M and Speaker S

Nothing’s design-focused CMF brand has entered the portable speaker market with two new models: the compact Speaker S and the more powerful Speaker M. Announced on October 12, 2026, the pair combines distinctive geometric styling with modern wireless features, physical controls and unusually strong water resistance. The Speaker M is the model officially available in Sweden, priced at SEK 1,290.

The launch expands CMF beyond the phones, earbuds and accessories that have defined its catalogue. Rather than attempting to disguise itself as another conventional Bluetooth speaker, the range leans into a boxy, colorful look with prominent controls and a practical emphasis on portability.

Two sizes, two different audio systems

The smaller CMF Speaker S uses a 45 mm full-range driver supported by two passive radiators. CMF quotes up to 10W RMS output and a frequency response of 70Hz–20kHz. It is designed as the more compact option for personal listening and easy transport.

Speaker M takes a different approach, pairing a dedicated 25W woofer with a 10W tweeter for a combined 35W RMS output. Its published frequency response begins at 60Hz, suggesting greater low-frequency reach on paper. The two-driver arrangement is also intended to separate vocals and instruments more clearly than a single full-range driver, although those are manufacturer claims rather than independent listening results.

Both models come in white, dark gray, orange and turquoise. Speaker M adds an integrated carrying handle, and its interchangeable front and control dial contribute to the range’s customizable appearance. CMF has also discussed making 3D-printable design templates available, potentially extending personalization beyond the factory colors.

Bluetooth 6, USB-C audio and Auracast

Connectivity is a particularly interesting part of this launch. Bluetooth 6.0 is joined by NFC pairing, Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair, while multipoint support allows two source devices to remain connected. Speaker M also supports USB-C audio, a useful alternative to wireless playback when connecting a compatible computer or other device.

Two matching speakers can be linked for left-right stereo playback. There is also an Auracast-based Party Mode that can synchronize audio across multiple compatible speakers, including supported devices from other brands. Compatibility still depends on the specific devices involved, so Auracast should not be confused with universal pairing across every Bluetooth speaker.

Sound adjustment is handled through the Nothing X app. CMF offers EQ presets, an Ultra Bass setting and a Wide Soundstage mode. The company also describes Adaptive Tuning, which adjusts sound processing according to the material being played. These are useful options to have, but how effectively they work will need to be judged through listening rather than specifications alone.

Built for travel, not just the desk

Both speakers carry an IP68 dust- and water-resistance rating. CMF specifies protection against immersion in fresh water at depths of up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes under test conditions. That is reassuring for outdoor use, although it does not make the speakers immune to every kind of water exposure or physical damage.

Battery life is rated at up to 18 hours, with the company specifying playback at 50% volume and Ultra Bass enabled. A ten-minute charge is claimed to provide up to one additional hour of listening. Real-world endurance will naturally vary with volume, connection method and listening conditions.

The physical interface is another welcome detail. Dedicated buttons handle essential functions, while a tactile dial offers direct access to playback and volume. For a portable speaker that may be used outside or shared among several people, controls that do not require opening a phone app are a sensible choice.

Swedish pricing and availability

CMF Speaker M launched in Sweden on October 12 for SEK 1,290. The smaller Speaker S is priced at $59 internationally, compared with $109 for Speaker M, but Swedish reporting indicates that Speaker S will not be sold locally at launch. That makes Speaker M the relevant option for most Swedish buyers looking at official domestic availability.

On paper, the combination of 35W output, USB-C audio, multipoint pairing, Auracast and IP68 protection gives Speaker M a compelling feature list for its price. Its unusually playful design is likely to be just as important to its appeal. The outstanding question is sound quality: until the speaker is properly evaluated, specifications alone cannot establish how it compares with established alternatives from JBL, Sony or Soundcore.
