According to a recent leak, the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy movie could be Nintendo and Illumination’s most ambitious film yet. The leak details a galaxy-spanning story, new villains, and the introduction of several fan-favorite characters from across the Mario universe.

The plot reportedly picks up after the events of the first Super Mario Bros. movie, with Mario and Luigi now hailed as heroes in Brooklyn. Their newfound fame doesn’t sit well with Wario, a disgruntled former colleague who emerges as an early antagonist. But the real threat comes from Bowser Jr., who has taken control of a mysterious galactic stronghold and plans to plunge the universe into chaos.

To protect the cosmos, Mario and Luigi team up with Princess Peach, Yoshi, and Rosalina — along with a group of Lumas that Bowser Jr. wants to harness for dark purposes. As part of his plan, he unleashes the Koopalings as elite enforcers to hunt down anyone who stands in his way. The film is also said to introduce a black market for forbidden Power Stars, adding a darker layer to the typically lighthearted Mario lore.

The Super Mario Galaxy movie is reportedly set to premiere on April 3, 2026.
