When the Entertainment Software Association confirmed that there would be no physical Electronic Entertainment Expo in 2022, many claimed that the chances were virtually zero that it would be a digital replacement. Now this has proven to be true.

ESA says in a press release that E3 2022 is also canceled as a digital event. However, they promise to come back stronger next year, which can still be questioned if that is really going to happen.
