Astro Bot Sequel Teased by Developer Team Asobi
A potential sequel to the popular PlayStation game Astro Bot may already be in the works, according to recent hints from developer Team Asobi. The speculation started when fans noticed a particular detail in the game’s trophy list. The Platinum trophy for the upcoming Astro Bot game, set to release on September 6, 2024, includes a message that congratulates players and says, “See you in Astro’s next adventure!” This message suggests that more content or a sequel may be on the horizon, although there has been no official confirmation from Team Asobi or PlayStation yet.
This isn’t the first time Team Asobi has hinted at future games through its trophies. In the past, similar hints have preceded the announcement of new titles. The upcoming Astro Bot game is already set to be a more extensive adventure, offering four times the number of worlds compared to its predecessor, new powers, and numerous new characters, enhancing the gameplay experience significantly. It also includes a total of 44 trophies, adding further replay value for players.
While a sequel has not been officially announced, Team Asobi’s ongoing dedication to the Astro Bot franchise, particularly after spinning off from Japan Studio in 2021 to become an independent developer within PlayStation Studios, suggests that future installments are likely. The studio has become known for its work on the Astro Bot series, which has quickly become a mascot-like presence for PlayStation due to its critical and commercial success.
Whether the Platinum trophy hint points to a full sequel, DLC, or another expansion, fans are hopeful for more adventures featuring the lovable robot character. Team Asobi’s openness to exploring future titles in the franchise means Astro Bot could continue to be a significant part of PlayStation’s game lineup for years to come.
For now, players will have to wait and see what Team Asobi plans next. The new Astro Bot game launches soon, and its success could very well determine the franchise’s future direction.
