Apple has added support for additional game controllers that can be used together with devices running macOS 13, iOS 16 and tvOS 16, something that, among other things, makes it possible to control games with the new versions of controllers for Nintendo’s classic game consoles.

Apple has not specified which new controls can be connected via bluetooth or cable to Apple computers, Apple TV, iPhone and iPad, but writes:

“Many additional Bluetooth and USB game controllers are supported by the Game Controller framework on macOS 13, iOS 16, and tvOS 16 and later.”

However, it seems that it should be possible to use modern versions of the game controllers for the NES, SNES, N64 and Sega Mega Drive (Genesis) on the Apple gadgets equipped with Apple’s latest operating system.
