The Online Store for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS Will Shut Down Next Year
Wii U and Nintendo 3DS are dead formats. Nintendo is announcing that they will soon retire the stores for both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. In an official announcement, they write that “as of late March 2023, it will no longer be possible to make purchases” with the above-mentioned systems and free content such as game demos will also no longer be available for download. This means that it will be much more difficult to get hold of games in these formats.
● As of May 23, 2022, it will no longer be possible to use a credit card to deposit money into a Nintendo Eshop account for the Wii U or Nintendo 3DS.
● As of August 29, 2022, it will no longer be possible to use a Nintendo Eshop card to add money to the service to either the Wii U or Nintendo 3DS. However, it will still be possible to redeem download codes until the end of March 2023.
However, after this it will still be possible to download what you have already bought again, such as games or expansions.
