Yesterday, we finally received official confirmation from Nintendo that the successor to the Switch will be unveiled before April 1, 2025. However, the exact specifications of the next console are still unclear, although there have been rumors of a device that bears a striking resemblance to the Switch.

And perhaps many of these rumors have indeed been accurate. Even though Nintendo had no details to share yesterday, CEO Shuntaro Furukawa had this to say in response to a question about whether the next Switch will be something entirely new:

“Switch next model is the appropriate way to describe it.”

In short, if you’ve been hoping for a hybrid console, it seems like your prayers may indeed be answered. Additionally, in June, Nintendo is set to host its own event, where we will get to see new Switch games. However, the new console will not be unveiled at this occasion.
