SteamOS Is Coming to Legion Go 2 This Summer
Lenovo is gearing up to give handheld gaming fans more flexibility by launching a SteamOS version of its upcoming Legion Go 2. While the original device ran on Windows 11, this new edition swaps out Microsoft’s OS for Valve’s Linux-based alternative, aiming to deliver a more streamlined, console-like gaming experience.
Under the hood, the hardware remains unchanged. The Legion Go 2 still boasts an 8.8-inch OLED display, AMD’s powerful Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip, up to 32 GB of RAM, and generous storage options. But with SteamOS, the device shifts focus toward instant-on gaming, controller-first navigation, and tight integration with the Steam ecosystem.
The SteamOS model is expected to launch in June 2026 and will likely carry a slightly higher price tag than its Windows-based sibling. While it may not offer the same level of app compatibility out of the box, the added simplicity and faster resume features could make it a compelling choice for handheld purists.
With this move, Lenovo positions itself as a serious player in the Linux gaming handheld space — and gives users a real choice between flexibility and focus.
