Sophie Turner Debuts as Lara Croft in First Look from Tomb Raider Series
Production has officially begun on Amazon Prime Video’s highly anticipated live-action Tomb Raider series, and fans have now been treated to the very first image of Sophie Turner stepping into the role of the legendary adventurer Lara Croft.
In the newly revealed image, Turner fully embraces the classic Tomb Raider aesthetic, wearing Croft’s iconic gear as filming gets underway. The look signals a return to the character’s roots while setting the tone for a more serialized and character-driven take on the franchise.
Turner has previously shared that her portrayal of Lara Croft is inspired primarily by the original games and related material, rather than earlier film adaptations. Her goal is to carve out a distinct version of the character that feels authentic while still honoring what made Lara Croft an enduring icon.
The series is being developed for Prime Video with Phoebe Waller-Bridge leading the project as creator, writer, and executive producer, alongside co-showrunner Chad Hodge. Turner is joined by a strong supporting cast that includes Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Martin Bobb-Semple, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, and Celia Imrie.
Although an official release date has yet to be announced, anticipation is already building. With production now underway and a high-profile creative team attached, the upcoming Tomb Raider series is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched adaptations in the gaming-to-TV space.
