Sony has rolled out a significant system software update for the PlayStation 5, bringing a wave of nostalgic flair and enhanced audio customization to the console. The update reintroduces classic themes inspired by previous PlayStation generations and debuts a new “Audio Focus” feature aimed at refining the auditory gaming experience.

Initially launched during PlayStation’s 30th anniversary celebrations, the classic themes—emulating the original PlayStation, PS2, PS3, and PS4—have made a comeback due to overwhelming community demand. These themes not only alter the visual interface but also incorporate the iconic startup sounds of their respective consoles. Users can access and apply these themes through the new “Appearance” menu within the PS5 settings.

Complementing the visual enhancements, the update introduces the “Audio Focus” feature, designed to amplify specific sound frequencies for a more immersive experience when using headphones. Players can choose from four presets: Boost Low Pitch, Boost Voices, Boost High Pitch, and Boost Quiet Sounds. These options allow for tailored audio adjustments, enhancing elements like in-game dialogue, environmental sounds, and subtle audio cues.

In addition to these major features, the update includes general system performance and stability improvements, ensuring a smoother and more responsive user experience.
