Sony Cancels Two Major Games, Including a New God of War Title
Sony has confirmed that it has canceled the development of two major live-service games that were under development for several years. One of these titles was a live-service God of War game, which was being developed by Bluepoint Games. The other game, an unannounced multiplayer title, was being worked on by Bend Studio.
Bluepoint Games, known for their remakes such as Demon’s Souls and Uncharted, was working on this God of War spin-off after assisting Santa Monica Studio with God of War: Ragnarök in 2022. Meanwhile, Bend Studio, which developed Days Gone, had been developing the multiplayer game.
Sony has stated that neither studio will be closing down, and they will continue to collaborate with Bluepoint and Bend on their next projects. Despite the cancellations, Sony remains committed to developing live-service games, although these recent cancellations highlight the risks associated with such ambitious titles.
