According to recent insider claims, both Sony and Microsoft are gearing up to release their next-generation consoles in 2027. If accurate, this would mark the beginning of a new era in the console wars, arriving seven years after the debut of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The leak stems from a known hardware insider who suggests that both platforms are on track for a simultaneous release, barring any delays. This timeline aligns with previous industry patterns, as both companies tend to operate within 6–8 year hardware cycles.

Additional clues have surfaced over the past months. A cancelled game called Blade Runner: Time to Live was reportedly in development for “Gen 10” platforms, with a targeted release in late 2027. On top of that, there are whispers that Sony’s next system-on-chip design has already been finalized — a move that typically signals a hardware launch within a two-year window. Meanwhile, Microsoft is said to have greenlit its next console, with production possibly already underway.

While official details remain scarce, it’s rumored that both consoles will leverage AMD’s next-generation GPU architecture, known internally as “UDNA”.
