PlayStation Portal Officially Unveiled During Gamescom
The official name of Sony’s new handheld is the Playstation Portal, not Q or Sony Q. At Gamescom 2023, Sony has unveiled the device in its complete magnificence and has also disclosed its price, among other details. The Portal is designed purely for game streaming, enabling you to stream games from your PS5 to this portable unit (which somewhat resembles a modified DualSense controller with an integrated iPad in the center). It will be priced at 2600 kronor upon its release later this year. The screen measures eight inches and is based on a standard LCD panel, operating at 1080p and 60 frames per second. In essence, it won’t feature the anticipated 4K OLED at 120Hz, but considering the 2600 kronor price point, such high-end features shouldn’t be expected.
Hideaki Nishino, from Sony Interactive Entertainment, stated: “The PlayStation Portal will establish a remote connection to your PS5 via Wi-Fi, enabling you to seamlessly transition from playing on your PS5 to utilizing the PlayStation Portal. This device can play supported games that are installed on your PS5 console and can make use of the DualSense controller.”
