Oblivion Remastered Drops Out of Nowhere – And It Looks Fantastic
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered has just shadow-dropped on modern platforms. Bethesda teamed up with Virtuos for the project, and the result is a beefed-up, nostalgia-drenched version of the 2006 RPG classic – now running on Unreal Engine 5.
This isn’t just a visual facelift. We’re talking crisp 4K textures, overhauled lighting, new character models, and modernized gameplay tweaks. Combat has been rebalanced, the UI finally makes sense in 2025, and yes – there’s even a proper sprint button now. The remaster bundles in all the original DLC too, including Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine, so it’s a full package right out of the gate.
One downer? No official mod support (yet). But the modding community is already poking around, and Bethesda seems chill about it – giving a subtle nod to ongoing fan projects like Skyblivion.
Oblivion Remastered is out now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and it’s also included in Xbox Game Pass. Standard edition is $49.99, while the Deluxe version throws in a digital artbook, soundtrack, and some exclusive in-game gear for the collectors out there.
