Nintendo has announced plans to gradually cease operations of its eShop and other online services for the Nintendo Switch in China, with full discontinuation expected by March 31, 2026. This decision will primarily affect gamers who have purchased the official Chinese version of the console.

The Chinese eShop will stop selling or offering paid and free games and software on March 31, 2026. From May 15, 2026, download and code redemption services will be suspended, and other online services will also be shut down on the same day. This change will primarily affect gamers who purchased the official Chinese version of the console, though many Chinese gamers use other versions that can connect with consoles outside of China.

Tencent partnered with Nintendo in 2019 to sell the Switch console in China.
