Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour Flops – Lowest Rated Nintendo Game in a Decade
Nintendo’s newly launched Switch 2 might be a powerhouse in terms of hardware, but not every part of its launch lineup is living up to the hype. One title in particular, Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour, has taken a nosedive straight into the review abyss—earning the dubious honor of being Nintendo’s worst-rated first-party game in over ten years.
Aimed at showcasing the features of the new console, Welcome Tour was supposed to be a friendly introduction to Switch 2’s capabilities. Instead, it’s been slammed for feeling more like a glorified instruction manual than a proper game. Critics and players alike have criticized its lackluster gameplay, shallow interactivity, and, perhaps most controversially, the fact that it costs money at all.
Rather than being included as a free pack-in like Wii Sports or Astro’s Playroom, Welcome Tour asks players to cough up $10 for what many consider a forgettable experience. Mini-games are uninspired, the structure feels like a tech demo at best, and its educational tone does little to excite or entertain.
Even more damning, the title currently holds one of the lowest aggregate scores for any Nintendo release in the last decade, making it an unfortunate blemish on an otherwise strong Switch 2 debut.
While the Switch 2 itself has been praised for its refined performance and quality-of-life improvements, Welcome Tour stands as a reminder that not every launch title needs to be monetized—especially when it feels like a tutorial in disguise.
