Garmin launches fēnix 9 and fēnix 9 Pro GPS smartwatches

Garmin has expanded its flagship smartwatch range with the release of the fēnix 9 and fēnix 9 Pro multisport GPS watches.

Both models introduce new software features, including Garmin Epic, a tool within Garmin Connect that aggregates activities over days, weeks, or months into a single shared story alongside health and performance metrics. Garmin states both devices also feature enhanced stamina tracking tools, such as stamina zones and curves, to track endurance changes over time.

fēnix 9 features

The standard fēnix 9 features an AMOLED display that is twice as bright as its predecessor, protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire lens and waterproof buttons. The smartwatch is rated for diving down to 40 metres depth and comes equipped with 64 GB of internal storage.

Mapping performance has been upgraded with a new map engine, 50 per cent more RAM than the fēnix 8, and up to 30 per cent faster map panning, alongside a new perspective view option. Additional software features include expanded indoor rowing metrics and dedicated rucking tracking.

fēnix 9 Pro features

The fēnix 9 Pro is the first fēnix smartwatch to feature a titanium case, using nano-moulding technology to join metal and polymer at a molecular level to reduce overall case thickness. Its AMOLED screen reaches up to 3,000 nits of brightness, and the 51 mm model features a 1.5-inch display that is 15 per cent larger than the fēnix 8 without increasing overall watch size.

Select Pro models include solar-charging display options and an integrated LED flashlight with a new green light mode for night vision. The fēnix 9 Pro also adds inReach satellite and LTE connectivity across all three case sizes, offering standalone voice, text, SOS emergency communication via Garmin Response, position sharing via Garmin Locate, and location-specific weather forecasts.

Price and availability

The Garmin fēnix 9 is available now, priced From $999.99 (11,499 SEK).

The fēnix 9 Pro is priced From 12,649 SEK in Sweden; no official US pricing has been announced. The Pro model offers up to 31 days of battery life in smartwatch mode on the largest AMOLED model, and up to 57 days for solar-charging variants under specific lighting conditions.

Garmin has also released new ComfortFit bands with a split-weave elastic design using the QuickFit attachment system.
