Kingston Unveils IronKey Locker+ 50 G2: Next-Gen Encrypted USB Drive Targets Rising Security Threats
As cyber threats like BadUSB exploits and brute-force attacks continue to evolve, secure portable storage is becoming more critical than ever. Kingston is stepping up to the challenge with the launch of its latest hardware-encrypted USB drive—the IronKey Locker+ 50 G2 (LP50 G2), designed to deliver enterprise-grade protection in a compact form factor.
At the core of the LP50 G2 is XTS-AES 256-bit hardware encryption, backed by FIPS 197 certification from NIST. This ensures that sensitive data stored on the device remains protected against unauthorized access. The drive also introduces digitally signed firmware to defend against BadUSB attacks, a growing concern in the cybersecurity landscape.
To counter brute-force attempts, Kingston has implemented strict security measures. After 10 failed login attempts, the device locks the user account, and if the admin password is incorrectly entered multiple times, the drive will automatically crypto-erase itself—effectively wiping all stored data to prevent breaches.*

The LP50 G2 supports both Admin and User roles, offering flexible password configurations. Users can choose between Complex mode (6–16 characters with mixed character sets) or Passphrase mode (10–64 characters), allowing for stronger and more memorable authentication. Additional usability features include a virtual keyboard to mitigate keylogging risks and an optional password reveal function to reduce login errors.
Built with a durable metal casing in a sleek space grey finish, the drive also features an anti-fingerprint coating, making it both practical and premium in design. Despite its robust security features, the LP50 G2 remains easy to use with plug-and-play functionality—no software installation required—and full compatibility with Windows and macOS systems.
Available in capacities ranging from 32GB to 256GB, the IronKey Locker+ 50 G2 is positioned as a versatile solution for individuals, businesses, and mobile professionals who need reliable data protection on the go.
With this release, Kingston continues to strengthen its IronKey lineup, reinforcing its position in the secure storage market as data privacy becomes an increasingly urgent priority.
