Jabra has announced that it will no longer produce consumer headphones or headsets, marking the end of an era for the well-known audio brand. In a statement released today, Jabra’s parent company, GN, cited poor profitability and intense competition as the primary reasons behind this significant shift in strategy.

GN’s press release elaborated on the decision, highlighting the financial challenges and market dynamics that led to this move. “The re-focusing of the Elite product line towards the premium segment, which was initiated in 2023, has resulted in a stronger profitability level than before. However, the investment required for future innovation and growth in this very competitive space is deemed unjustified in the long-term given associated risks,” the statement read. It further explained that the “Talk product line follows a similar logic and is positioned in the declining mono Bluetooth market. Consequently, following a thorough business review, the decision has been taken to gradually wind-down both the Elite and Talk product lines.”

This decision means that the recently launched Elite 10 and Elite 8 Active will be the last consumer-focused headphones from Jabra. Fans of the brand are likely to be disappointed by the news, as these models will be the final offerings aimed at the consumer market. The shift signifies a broader industry trend where companies are reevaluating their consumer electronics portfolios in response to changing market conditions and competitive pressures.

For many loyal users, this is an unfortunate development. The Elite series, in particular, had garnered a solid reputation for quality and performance, making the end of its consumer availability a notable loss in the headphone market.
