Embracer has bought the rights to The Lord of the Rings
The Swedish gaming giant Embracer Group which today owns Koch Media (the entire group), Saints Row, Darksiders, Timesplitters, Borderlands, Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, MX vs ATV, Destroy All Humans, Kingdoms of Amalur, Biomutant, Huntdown, Homefront, Wreckest, Flatout , Valheim, Hot Wheels Unleashed, World War Z, Evil Dead, Metro, Shadow Warrior, Duke Nukem Forever, Splitgate, Ghostrunner, Neverwinter, Thief, Legacy of Kain and many more beloved games and series and to this pile of attractive licenses and studios can they now add Tolkien’s collected literary works.
Embracer with CEO Lars Wingefors has just bought the rights to The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit from The Saul Zaentz Company, which means they own the rights to all future books, films, toys and games.
