EA’s highly anticipated reboot of the Skate franchise, simply titled skate., is set to launch in Early Access in 2025. This follows years of development and extensive playtesting that began after the game’s announcement in June 2020. Fans have been eagerly awaiting this revival, which will offer a free-to-play model with cross-play and cross-progression across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms.

The game is being developed by Full Circle, a studio formed under EA, with a focus on maintaining the core mechanics of the beloved series while introducing new elements to make it more accessible and rewarding for both solo and multiplayer experiences. Skate. will be set in the fictional city of San Vansterdam, where players will be able to perform tricks using the refined “Flick-It” control system, customize their characters, and unlock new items as they explore and skate around the city.

Before its Early Access launch, console playtesting will roll out in late 2024, giving more players a chance to experience the game before the official release. The game has been in closed playtesting for PC since 2022, where tens of thousands of players have already contributed feedback. Full Circle has reassured fans that the game will avoid exploitative monetization, specifically stating that there will be no paid loot boxes.
