EA Shuts Down Origin for PC – Transition to EA App Required
EA has officially announced that its PC platform, Origin, will be shutting down entirely on April 17, 2025. The company has urged users to transition to the EA App, which will become the primary platform for all future PC games and services.
The move is part of EA’s ongoing effort to streamline its services and improve the user experience. While Origin was once the go-to platform for EA games on PC, the company has shifted its focus to the EA App, which is faster, more efficient, and better integrated with EA’s other services, such as EA Play and Game Pass.
Users are advised to migrate their game libraries and account information to the EA App before the shutdown. The EA App will support all current and future EA games, ensuring that players won’t lose access to their purchased content.
EA has also emphasized that players will need to ensure they are running a 64-bit version of Windows to use the EA App, as the app no longer supports 32-bit operating systems.
