Blizzard Entertainment has announced that there will be no BlizzCon this year, marking a significant disappointment for fans worldwide. Despite the event’s triumphant return just last year after a two-year hiatus, Blizzard has decided to pump the brakes once again. In a blog post addressing the decision, the company expressed its regret over canceling BlizzCon for 2024.

“After careful consideration over the last year, we at Blizzard have made the decision not to hold BlizzCon in 2024. This decision was not made lightly as BlizzCon remains a very special event for all of us, and we know many of you look forward to it,” the blog post stated.

While fans may be disheartened by the news, Blizzard assured them that they are still committed to engaging with the community through other avenues. The company mentioned its plans to participate in events such as Dreamhack Stockholm and Gamescom, as well as hosting various festivities commemorating the 30th anniversary of World of Warcraft.

Despite the setback, Blizzard remains optimistic about the future of BlizzCon. “While we’re approaching this year differently and as we have explored different event formats in the past, rest assured that we are just as excited as ever to bring BlizzCon back in future years,” the post continued.

The cancellation of BlizzCon 2024 is undoubtedly disappointing for fans, but hopes remain high for its return in the future. With events like Dreamhack Stockholm and Gamescom on the horizon, as well as celebrations for World of Warcraft’s milestone anniversary, there are still plenty of opportunities for fans to engage with Blizzard and the gaming community at large. Here’s to hoping that BlizzCon will make a triumphant return next year, stronger than ever before.
