Apple has to pay $ 300 million for lost patent dispute
A court in Texas has ruled that Apple must pay 300 million dollars (around 2.6 billion SEK), for using wireless technology from the company Optis in the iPhone.
Unexpectedly, Apple is not entirely happy with this and writes in a statement that Optis does not manufacture its own products but that Optis’ business concept seems to be to sue other companies for patent infringement. They also wrote that they will continue to contradict the unreasonable fees that Optis demands for the patents they own.
“Optis makes no products and its sole business is to sue companies using patents they accumulate. We will continue to defend against their attempts to extract unreasonable payments for patents they acquire”
Exactly how Apple will proceed now, is unclear at the time of writing this.
