Amazon acquires MGM and James Bond rights
Amazon confirms that they are buying MGM for $ 8.45 billion (around SEK 70 billion). The company is best known for the James Bond films, but they also include Fargo, The Handmaid’s Tale, 12 Angry Men, Basic Instinct, Creed, Legally Blonde, Moonstruck, Poltergeist, Raging Bull, Robocop, Rocky, Silence of the Lambs, Stargate, Thelma & Louise, Tomb Raider, The Magnificent Seven, The Pink Panther and much, much more. So expect Amazon Prime Video to have growing pains.
The absurdity of this deal though, is that 007: No Time to Die will not appear on Amazon Prime despite the acquisition. Four times (!) The cinema premiere of the complete Bond roll has been postponed and it has even gone so far that Nokia, which paid part of the production budget to include its new phone in the film has withdrawn, since the phones that James uses in the film, is no longer a part of Nokias line of phones.
