A special side-mission has just gone live in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, giving players the chance to catch one of the most iconic Legendaries of all time — Mewtwo. Not only that, but you’ll also be able to Mega Evolve it into either of its powerful forms: Mega Mewtwo X or Mega Mewtwo Y.

To access the mission, head into the game’s Mystery Gift section and claim the “Project M” gift. This will reward you with both Mewtwonite X and Y, and unlock the side-mission needed to encounter Mewtwo. The quest leads players deep into Lysandre Labs, where the legendary Pokémon awaits on the third basement floor.

Mewtwo appears at level 70 and must be captured to complete the mission. If you fail to catch it during the battle, the game gives you another chance by restarting the fight, making it a bit more forgiving than usual legendary encounters. Once caught, you can use either Mega Stone to trigger its Mega Evolution — with X focusing on physical strength and Y emphasizing speed and special attack.

This update adds some exciting depth to the game ahead of the upcoming Mega Dimension DLC, and it’s a great opportunity to grab a powerhouse for your team before diving into new content.
