Xbox Series S/X Sales Estimated Between 27-29 Million Units
Microsoft ceased reporting direct console sales figures to investors several years ago, making it challenging to determine the exact number of Xbox Series S/X consoles sold. However, Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, has provided an estimate based on their own data. In their latest financial report, Take-Two suggests that as of November 2024, the combined sales of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X consoles reached approximately 94 million units.
Sony reported that by September 30, 2024, PlayStation 5 sales had reached 65.5 million units. Considering the strong sales typically seen in the last quarter of the year, it’s likely that by November, PS5 sales had increased to between 67 to 69 million units. Subtracting these figures from the combined total reported by Take-Two suggests that Xbox Series S/X consoles sold between 25 to 27 million units by that time.
It’s important to note that these figures are estimates, as Microsoft has not provided official sales numbers for the Xbox Series consoles since mid-2023. Additionally, VGChartz, another source that estimated over 31 million Xbox Series X/S sales in the same timeframe, is known for liberal estimates, which may not be as reliable.
In summary, while exact figures are unavailable, estimates suggest that between 27 to 29 million Xbox Series S/X consoles have been sold as of November 2024.
