Ubisoft has officially pulled the plug on six of its in-development titles, and among the most notable losses is the long-troubled remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

Originally announced in 2020, the remake faced numerous delays, internal reshuffles, and a complete reboot in an attempt to win back fan trust after a disappointing first reveal. Despite multiple chances, the project never found its footing — and now, it’s been shelved entirely.

In addition to the Sands of Time remake, Ubisoft has also canceled four unannounced projects and a mobile title. The decision is part of a broader strategy shift at the company, focusing resources on fewer, higher-quality games with long-term potential.

Ubisoft also revealed that seven other games have been delayed to allow more development time. This restructuring appears to be a major effort to tighten production pipelines and ensure future releases meet both internal and player expectations.

While it’s always tough to see promising titles scrapped, the move signals Ubisoft’s renewed commitment to quality over quantity — even if that means saying goodbye to a beloved classic’s return.
