Skype gets a “together mode”
In recent years, Skype has been interspersed with most competing services, but that doesn’t stop them from trying to keep up anyway by offering new functionality.
One such new functionality is the ability to video chat so it looks like you are sitting in one and the same room. This is more or less a copy of the “together mode” in Teams, also a Microsoft product.
For this to work, it is required that there are at least five people in the conversation and that everyone has their camera running. The good thing is that you don’t need to have the client installed for this to work as it can also be used in the web client. It is also enough that only one person in the conversation has a Skype account, other participants can be invited via a link.
Another new thing that Skype now offers is the ability to see all participants’ cameras at the same time as well as a bunch of new backgrounds.
Skype 8.67 is now available for Windows, Mac and Linux.
