Claiming that the development of Skull and Bones has gone smoothly would be a considerable exaggeration. Since its inception over a decade ago, it has experienced delays a staggering seven times, and it remains to be seen if an eighth delay is in the cards. Hopefully, there won’t be any further delays, and the closed beta, promised for June, is now set to take place as planned for a fortunate group of selected individuals. The beta will kick off on August 25th and conclude on the 28th, undoubtedly sparking interest in the impressions that players will glean from the experience.

A release in 2023 doesn’t appear to be in the cards. However, the fact that the beta is finally coming to fruition as intended could serve as an indication that an official release date might indeed be on the horizon. Nevertheless, given the history, we approach this with cautious optimism.
