ROG Xbox Ally Gets Major Upgrade With Battery, Gyro, and Performance Improvements
Asus has rolled out a substantial update for its handheld gaming device, the ROG Xbox Ally, bringing a host of upgrades that significantly enhance both performance and user experience. This move signals Asus’ ongoing commitment to refining its portable gaming hardware based on community feedback.
Among the standout improvements is a boost to battery life, made possible through firmware and BIOS optimizations. The system now consumes less power in Modern Standby mode, and a new Windows 11 update reduces idle battery drain by enabling better low-power states.
The update also introduces a more refined gyro aiming system, offering smoother and more responsive motion controls for compatible games. This is a welcome addition for players who prefer precision aiming through motion input.
Performance tuning has also taken a step forward. Users now have the ability to manually toggle performance and efficiency CPU cores, giving more control over how the device balances power and speed. Additionally, the FPS limiter now supports a minimum of 40 FPS, optimizing performance for the Ally’s 120 Hz display, while AMD Radeon Chill integration helps manage thermals and power usage more intelligently.
Other quality-of-life improvements include a new update notification system and smoother transitions when launching fullscreen games, streamlining the overall user experience.
With these updates, the ROG Xbox Ally becomes an even more compelling option for portable PC gaming, offering deeper customization, better battery handling, and improved gameplay responsiveness.
