Nintendo is reinforcing its ambitions in the world of cinema by renaming its film-focused subsidiary. The company has officially changed the name of Warpstar, Inc. to Nintendo Pictures USA Inc., now operating under the more streamlined branding of Nintendo Stars. This rebrand reflects Nintendo’s commitment to growing its presence beyond gaming and into the broader entertainment industry.

The change follows Nintendo’s full acquisition of Warpstar earlier this year. Originally a joint venture with HAL Laboratory, Warpstar was primarily responsible for managing media projects tied to the Kirby franchise, including the early 2000s anime series Kirby: Right Back at Ya!. With HAL Laboratory stepping away, Nintendo now holds full control of the company, which will act as a key vehicle for the development and distribution of future film projects based on its iconic franchises.

This move aligns with Nintendo’s increasing push into the movie space. Following the massive success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, the company has doubled down on cinematic adaptations. Projects currently in the pipeline include a sequel to the Mario film as well as a live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda.

By consolidating its entertainment efforts under the Nintendo Stars name, the company aims to present a unified front in both gaming and film, making its beloved characters and worlds even more accessible to global audiences.
