Nintendo Discontinues Gold Points in Switch eShop
Nintendo has announced the discontinuation of its Gold Points system in the Nintendo Switch eShop, effective March 25, 2025. Previously, players could earn Gold Points by purchasing digital games or registering physical copies, which could then be redeemed for discounts or new games on the eShop. After this date, users will no longer be able to earn new Gold Points through these methods.
However, any Gold Points accumulated before March 25 will remain valid for 12 months from the date they were earned, allowing users to continue using them for discounts or purchases within that timeframe. Nintendo has not provided a specific reason for this change, leading to speculation that a new rewards system may be introduced, possibly coinciding with the launch of the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
For those with existing Gold Points, it’s advisable to utilize them before they expire to maximize their value.
