TP-Link announces Wi-Fi 8 Archer and Deco routers at IFA 2026

TP-Link is showcasing its first Wi-Fi 8 product portfolio at IFA 2026 in Berlin, led by the Archer 8 Ultra router and the Deco 8 Ultra mesh system. Both devices are based on the draft IEEE 802.11bn Wi-Fi 8 specification and introduce TP-Link's StabilityEngine, which the manufacturer states is designed to improve stability, manage high device density, and mitigate signal interference.

Hardware and Wi-Fi 8 features

The Archer 8 Ultra is a tri-band Wi-Fi 8 router delivering combined wireless speeds of up to 19 Gbps and wired connectivity up to 10 Gbps. It houses 18 internal antennas designed to provide full-home signal coverage. The Deco 8 Ultra is a tri-band mesh system offering total wireless speeds up to 22 Gbps and 10 Gbps wired connections. According to TP-Link, a three-pack Deco 8 Ultra system can cover areas up to approximately 910 square metres and support more than 200 connected devices.

The underlying Wi-Fi 8 technology focuses on connection reliability and latency reduction rather than peak theoretical speed increases alone. TP-Link's StabilityEngine incorporates several standard features:

• Enhanced Long Range (ELR) and Distributed Resource Units (DRU) to extend coverage and improve connectivity for distant or low-power client devices.
• Non-Primary Channel Access (NPCA) to keep the network responsive under heavy concurrent device usage.
• Unequal Modulation (UEQM) and new Modulation and Coding Schemes (MCS) to maintain data throughput when interference occurs.

Design and availability

TP-Link states that both units have been styled to be displayed openly in living areas, which helps avoid dead zones caused by placing networking hardware in closed cabinets or hidden corners. The Archer 8 Ultra features a two-part front shell and status lighting, while the Deco 8 Ultra retains a matte finish with rounded edges.

Price and launch schedule

Pre-orders for the Archer 8 Ultra will open in selected regions on 30 September 2026 following an online launch presentation. Pricing for the Archer 8 Ultra and regional availability details for the Deco 8 Ultra have not yet been announced.

TP-Link also outlined a future release roadmap for additional Wi-Fi 8 products:
