Sony Unveils Marvel’s Wolverine Limited-Edition PS5 and DualSense Collection

Sony is giving Marvel’s Wolverine a full hardware tie-in for launch, led by a limited-edition PS5 Digital Edition bundle in a deliberately loud yellow-and-black finish. The Marvel’s Wolverine Battle Yellow Limited Edition package includes the console, a matching DualSense wireless controller and a download code for Insomniac Games’ upcoming PS5 title.

The announcement goes considerably further than a single console skin. Sony is also preparing standalone controllers and replacement covers for existing PS5 Slim and PS5 Pro owners, including a second, metallic Adamantium design for PS5 Pro.

Battle Yellow puts the claws on the console

The main Battle Yellow design takes its cues from Wolverine’s Battle Reborn suit in the game. Bright yellow panels are broken up by black artwork and claw slashes, with parts of the design creating the impression that Logan has cut through the outer shell. The matching DualSense follows the same yellow-and-black theme and carries claw marks across the front.

Sony says it collaborated with Insomniac Games, Marvel Games and graphic artist Jock on the collection. Jock also contributed key art for Marvel’s Wolverine, which helps explain why the hardware looks more like illustrated comic art than a simple logo stamped onto a standard console.

The PS5 Digital Edition bundle will be sold globally in limited quantities. Importantly, it is the digital console rather than a disc-drive model, and the included copy of Marvel’s Wolverine is supplied as a download code.

Existing PS5 owners can buy the look separately

You do not need to buy another console to get the Wolverine treatment. Sony will sell Battle Yellow console covers separately for the current PS5 Slim model group and for PS5 Pro. The PS5 covers are designed to work with compatible consoles whether or not a disc drive is fitted.

PS5 Pro owners also get an alternative called Adamantium Limited Edition. Instead of the bright comic-book yellow, this version uses a metallic finish inspired by the adamantium bonded to Wolverine’s skeleton and claws. Sony is pairing those PS5 Pro covers with a matching Adamantium DualSense, which will also be available separately.

Pre-orders open August 19

Pre-orders begin on August 19 at 10:00 AM local time in supported PlayStation Direct markets, with US orders opening at 7:00 AM Pacific / 10:00 AM Eastern. The limited-edition hardware launches on September 15, the same day as Marvel’s Wolverine.

Official US pricing puts the Battle Yellow PS5 Digital Edition bundle at $649.99. Both limited-edition DualSense designs are $84.99 each, while the Battle Yellow PS5 covers, Battle Yellow PS5 Pro covers and Adamantium PS5 Pro covers are $74.99 each. Sony has also announced European RRPs of €649.99 for the console bundle, €84.99 for the controllers and €74.99 for the covers.

PlayStation Direct itself is not available in Sweden, so Swedish availability will depend on selected retailers. Sony describes the collection as limited, but has not published unit numbers. That makes the August 19 pre-order date the one to watch if the more unusual Wolverine hardware is on your list.

A coordinated launch for Insomniac’s Wolverine

Marvel’s Wolverine is an original action game from Insomniac Games and is scheduled for PS5 on September 15, 2026. The hardware collection gives Sony a coordinated console, controller and accessory launch around one of its major first-party releases rather than limiting the tie-in to a single special-edition controller.

For existing PS5 owners, the separate covers are arguably the most practical part of the announcement: they offer the themed design without forcing a second console purchase. The Adamantium option also gives PS5 Pro owners a less conspicuous alternative to Battle Yellow while keeping the claw-slashed Wolverine styling.
