Pokémon GO is holding its 10th Anniversary Celebration from Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. PDT to Sunday, September 6, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. local time, according to Pokemongo. As part of the celebration, Trainers can complete free Timed Research to encounter a Mewtwo with maxed-out stats and a Special Background, according to Pokemongo.
Mewtwo caught from the Timed Research will have the third Mega Level unlocked for Mega Mewtwo Y, according to Pokemongo. Tasks and rewards for the 10th Anniversary Timed Research must be completed and claimed before Sunday, September 6, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. local time, according to Pokemongo.
Trainers who caught a Mewtwo at the in-person Times Square event on July 9 will receive a Mewtwo with different stats and different rewards, according to Pokemongo. Mewtwo with a Times Square background will be available again at an unspecified future date, according to Pokemongo.
