LEGO is getting its own full-scale city builder. LEGO Skylines was unveiled during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026, pairing the familiar freedom of brick-built creation with the management systems of a modern city simulation. The game is being developed by Iceflake Studios and published by Paradox Interactive in collaboration with the LEGO Group.

Rather than simply reskinning Cities: Skylines with plastic bricks, the official description presents LEGO Skylines as a standalone, more playful take on the genre. Players begin with a single plot and gradually turn it into a metropolis, while still dealing with the practical systems that keep a city functioning.

A LEGO city that actually needs to work

The core pitch mixes creative building with familiar city-management responsibilities. Roads, electricity, food and water all need attention, while services such as hospitals, garbage collection and sewage help keep the population healthy and the city running. As the city expands, new buildings and services become available, giving players more ways to shape both its appearance and its function.

Customization appears to be one of the biggest priorities. Paradox describes a large selection of buildings, plots, decorations and other options intended to let players make cities that feel personal rather than following a fixed set of instructions. The Steam listing reinforces that idea with a simple rule: make the city yours.

Iceflake Studios is behind the project

LEGO Skylines is being developed by Finland-based Iceflake Studios, the Paradox-owned developer that took over development of Cities: Skylines II from Colossal Order. That connection gives the new project some serious city-building pedigree, even though LEGO Skylines is being positioned with a cozier and more approachable tone.

The announcement trailer leans into that lighter identity, showing a LEGO world assembled around its minifigure residents rather than focusing on dense menus or spreadsheets. Official material nevertheless makes clear that the game goes beyond decorative construction: citizens need homes, jobs, parks and public services, while players can also develop farms, shops, museums and sports venues.

Coming to PC and current consoles

LEGO Skylines is confirmed for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Paradox has not announced a release date or launch window yet, and the Steam page currently lists the game simply as “Coming soon.” No price has been revealed either.

The Steam listing currently identifies LEGO Skylines as a single-player game. It also emphasizes open-ended construction and says players have unlimited space, although the exact technical limits, map structure and progression systems have not yet been detailed publicly.

A natural fit for LEGO

City builders and LEGO have always shared a basic appeal: starting with empty space and gradually turning it into something elaborate, functional and distinctly personal. LEGO Skylines makes that overlap explicit, but the involvement of a studio already working on Cities: Skylines II suggests Paradox wants more than a lightweight building toy.

There are still important unknowns, including how deep the simulation will go, how progression works and when the game will actually arrive. But the first official details establish the fundamentals: this is a dedicated LEGO city-management game with real infrastructure and citizen needs, extensive customization and releases planned across PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2.
