JBL Unveils AI‑Powered BandBox Amps and Speakers to Revolutionize Practice and Performance
JBL is expanding how musicians interact with sound with the launch of its new BandBox Solo and BandBox Trio, a pair of portable practice amps and speakers that take inspiration from real‑time AI processing. Designed for beginners and seasoned players alike, these devices incorporate on‑board artificial intelligence that separates vocals and instruments from any Bluetooth audio source — all without needing cloud connectivity or an internet connection.
At the heart of the BandBox series is JBL’s Stem AI technology, which isolates or removes individual elements like vocals, guitar, or drums in the moment. That means musicians can practice parts or jam along with favorite tracks by effectively remixing them live, a feature that turns every song into a customizable backing track.
Beyond clever AI, both units deliver the punchy, instrument‑ready JBL sound profile, giving users robust highs, rich mids and satisfying bass in any setting — from bedroom sessions to small gigs.
BandBox Solo: A Compact Powerhouse for Players On the Go
The BandBox Solo is aimed at solo musicians who want power and flexibility in a compact package. With both a guitar and a microphone input, it’s perfect for guitarists, singer‑songwriters and home players. Using JBL’s AI separation tools, musicians can strip out or soften parts of a track — like rhythm guitar — and jump in with their own performance.
Through the JBL ONE app, Solo users can explore a range of amp models from vintage to modern, apply effects such as phaser and reverb without external pedals, and access tools like a looper, pitch shifter and tuner. The amp also supports USB‑C connectivity for recording directly into a DAW, while its LED screen simplifies navigation of tones and tools.
BandBox Trio: Built for Collaboration and Live Use
For groups and collaborative play, the BandBox Trio steps things up with four instrument inputs and a built‑in mixer for balancing levels and shaping tone right on the speaker. With 135 W of JBL output and dedicated mic effects like reverb and delay, Trio is suited to bands, duos or jam sessions without hauling heavy rigs.
The unit’s replaceable battery promises up to 10 hours of playtime, and its tactile controls mean players can tweak sound without always needing the companion app. Like Solo, the Trio also supports AI‑driven separation, Bluetooth playback, and USB‑C recording to a computer.
Both products will be available starting in February, with Solo priced around 2 599 SEK and Trio around 6 799 SEK via JBL.com and select retailers.
With BandBox, JBL is clearly pushing toward tools that blend performance, practice and creative exploration — bringing deep sound capabilities and smart AI features into portable gear for musicians of all levels.
