Honk the horn! Seat turns 70 today!
On May 9, 1950, the car manufacturer Seat was founded, which means that it is now 70 years old. The company has 15,000 employees and is the industrial company in Spain that invests most in research and development.
The first factory opened in Zona Franca in Barcelona in 1953. There, five Seat 1400 units were built/day. Models 600 and 127 followed. 40 years after this, a brand new and more modern factory was built in Martorell where all production was moved. Here they started with the production of the second generation Ibiza and the new Cordoba. Now there were up to 1500 manufactured cars a day. At present, more than 19 million cars have rolled out of Seats factories.
Happy Birthday Seat!
