Doom Gets a Wild Collector’s Edition – Inside a Playable Box
Limited Run Games has once again raised the bar for quirky collector’s editions. This time, they’re celebrating the legacy of Doom and Doom II with the absurdly creative Will It Run? Edition — a literal box that runs the game.
Yes, you read that right. The packaging itself isn’t just for show. Open the lid and you’ll find a fully functional screen, game controls, and a speaker built right into the box, allowing players to boot up and play Doom without ever touching a console or PC.
This collector’s edition is loaded with extras. It includes Doom and Doom II for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo Switch, alongside a mountain of additional levels to keep the demon-slaying going. There’s also a chunky Cacodemon statue and a retro cassette tape loaded with four hours of metal-infused Doom music. But perhaps the oddest inclusion is a Cacodemon-shaped virtual pet — think Tamagotchi, but with added hellspawn — that can also play Doom.

True to the franchise’s infernal branding, only 666 units of this limited edition will be made, each priced at $666.
If you’re a fan of over-the-top game merch or just need another reason to own Doom on yet another platform (or… cardboard box), this is the kind of collectible that’ll make your shelf — and your inner 90s gamer — grin.
