A concern has arisen within the gaming community regarding a website that offers a Nintendo Switch flashcart enabling users to ‘backup’ their physical games.

The recently unveiled flashcart, known as Mig Switch, seems to be produced by Team Xecuter, a group notorious for piracy and hacking. Gary Bowser and Max Louarn, members of this group, faced legal consequences for selling hacking tools for profit, with Bowser ordered to pay over $10 million to Nintendo and sentenced to 40 months imprisonment in February 2020.

Additionally, a separate game dumper is being promoted alongside the Nintendo Switch flashcart. Allegedly, this flashcart permits users to access their game libraries irrespective of their Nintendo Switch version or firmware.

It wouldn’t be surprising if Nintendo’s legal team has initiated the collection of evidence against the creators of this Switch flashcart. They are likely eager to swiftly suppress the device, as it contradicts Nintendo’s Anti-Piracy Programme.

While some may desire to safeguard their Nintendo Switch games using such a flashcart for the sake of game preservation, the blatant potential for illicit activities cannot be overlooked or endorsed.

Video games warrant acknowledgment for the joy and artistry they bring into our lives, and the creators behind these titles deserve compensation for their invaluable contributions.

Organizations like The Embracer Games Archive are actively curating an extensive library of physical games, legally preserving games for the future.

To maintain your own collections of top Nintendo Switch games, it is recommended to handle the cartridges with care and respect. Ensure you place them back into their cases once you’ve finished playing.
